Bradley Francois, Founder & CEO
Here, in his own words, is why he started the business, what he looks for in the people who join, and where he wants to take it next.
Why I started Thryve
I started Thryve for a few reasons. I wanted to create an impact and give people a real opportunity to grow. I also wanted control over what I could achieve, personally and professionally.
I’ve always wanted to be a CEO and work for myself, and to be in charge of the success I create.
What my career taught me
My first few jobs taught me to be dependable and to do what I say I’m going to do. Over time I learned that company culture matters enormously, that a strong culture is what drives a team’s success, and that management shapes how a business runs day to day.
Most of all, I learned to always strive to be the best version of myself. Wherever I worked, I was one of the hardest workers, because I understood that was my purpose at that moment.
What I look for in people
Experience is great, but these three things matter more to me:
- Genuine: be as authentic as you can.
- Integrity: a good moral compass and the ability to make good decisions.
- Curious: ask questions when you’re unsure, so you’re never doing things aimlessly.
What you can achieve at Thryve
- Growth, both personally and professionally
- A chance to build something for yourself that you may never have imagined
- A place in a community that feels like family and cares about you and your goals
Where we’re going next
Thryve is going as far as possible. I like to say we’re the fastest-growing direct marketing firm in the country. Our goal is to develop as many people as we can into the best versions of themselves, and to develop them well enough that they can grow their own companies and succeed doing it.
Thryve is still a young brand, and joining while the culture is still being built means seeing the growing pains that come with success. But Rome wasn’t built in a day, and none of us are finished products. We work to be better every day so Thryve can reach its full potential.
Joining at this stage is demanding, but it’s also a lot of fun, because the process is the best part of the journey. We’ll always say so out loud, alongside where that journey can take us.
Quick fire
Nervous about having no sales experience?
Most people who start here have none. The systems we have in place help us all be successful at sales.
What am I most proud of so far?
The quality of the donors we bring in. There’s still room to improve, but we’re doing a good job getting donors involved with longer-term, more frequent contributions, and our quality has improved because of it.
Fun fact
I have both of my parents’ last names. Bradley is my mom’s maiden name and Francois is my dad’s. I’ve always thought that was pretty interesting.
A final note
If you’re thinking about joining Thryve, I’d want you to know that with the work you put in, a student mentality, and the perspective you choose every day, you can achieve whatever you want to.
